Position Summary

Empire Landscape is seeking a qualified Tree Care Foreman or the potential to quickly move into the foreman position with training. Foreman will have physical field work along with managerial responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervises, coordinates and actively works with crew engaged in: tree care as well as removal in an urban environment, land clearing on/near major utilities and roadways, using heavy equipment to clear/process large wooded areas, reforestation, hydroseeding, wetland, storm water management, bioretention planting, root pruning, invasive species management, sediment/erosion control and tree work. Will work with large construction companies, county parks/complexes, municipal properties, wetlands, roadsides and residential in Maryland, Virginia, and DC.

Manages a team of 2 – 7 crew members; encouraging a focus on quality, productivity and safety. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws, regulation and company policies. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work to facilitate quality and efficient work. Serves as a first line of communication with employees that have ideas or issues.

Education and Experience

Minimum of 2-3 years Climbing/Crew leading experience under the supervision of a Licensed Tree Expert and/or a ISA Certified Arborist.

Position Summary

Empire Landscape is seeking an intern that is able/willing to take up jobs in the field, in our nursery/yard and in the office.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work with foreman and crew engaged in reforestation, hydroseeding, wetland, storm water management, bioretention planting, root pruning, invasive species management, sediment/erosion control and tree work. Will work with large construction companies, county parks/complexes, municipal properties, wetlands, roadsides and residential in Maryland, Virginia, and DC. Intern will focus on productivity and safety while facilitating quality end-product and efficient work.

Assist the Estimating team with the review of plans and specifications, pricing of jobs, and submission of estimates. Will attend Pre-bid meetings and represent Empire on a professional level.

Education and Experience

Individuals working towards a two or four year degree in environmental science or related field or marketing/sales field. High School interns in signature horticulture or environmental programs are encouraged to apply.

Position Summary

Empire Landscape, LLC is seeking a qualified Environmental Restoration Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Manager is expected to plan, budget, schedule, provide oversight, produce invoices for work completed and document all aspects of projects assigned to ensure the job is profitable. He/She shall will be responsible for various types projects including, but not limited to; reforestation plantings, stream plantings, wetland plantings, bioretention plantings and maintenance, storm water management plantings and maintenance, hydro seeding, tree removal, tree preservation, invasive species management, sediment/erosion control, and bioengineering. They will be required to successfully managing working with both small and large construction companies as well as county parks/complexes, government agencies and municipalities, homeowners, and inspectors within the MD/VA/DC area.

The Project Manager facilitates the logistics of projects; encouraging a focus on quality, productivity and safety. They are expected to carry-out their responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws, environmental regulations, project specifications and company policies.

Additional responsibilities include reading and understanding plans/specifications, reading and understanding contracts, writing RFI’s, assembling submittal packages, coordinating with staff and general contractors, attend meetings in field and office.

Education and Experience

Two or four-year degree in Environmental Science or related field and two or more years related environmental restoration work and/or project management experience.

Position Summary

Empire Landscape, LLC is seeking a qualified Environmental Restoration Project Superintendent.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Superintendent is expected to plan, organize, schedule, provide oversight, produce work orders, and review tracking sheets for work completed on multiple jobs assigned to the Superintendent. Superintendent will be responsible for reading and understanding all specifications and details for each assigned project. He/She shall/ will be responsible for various types projects including, but not limited to; reforestation plantings, stream plantings, wetland plantings, bioretention plantings and maintenance, storm water management plantings and maintenance, hydro seeding, tree removal, tree preservation, invasive species management, sediment/erosion control, and bioengineering. They will be required to successfully manage working with both small and large construction companies as well as county parks/complexes, government agencies and municipalities, homeowners, and inspectors within the MD/VA/DC area. Supervisor will need to coordinate meetings with the primes or owners of the projects, communicate affectively both orally and by email, document communications and keep documentations organized and saved.

The Project Superintendent facilitates the logistics of projects working directly with the foreman and crews; encouraging a focus on quality, productivity, safety and profitability. Superintendent is expected to carry-out their responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws, environmental regulations, project specifications and company policies.

Two year degree in Environmental Science or related field and two or more years related experience.

Position Summary

We are looking for skilled drivers that have the ability to function well as part of a team. The primary responsibility of the driver is to drive a hydro-seeding truck and roll-off truck. We seek highly motivated and experienced drivers with a background in hydro-seeding or environmental restoration.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading of trucks
  • Operation of hydro-seeder and roll off truck
  • Maintain driver logs and complete pre-trip inspections
  • Adhere to all safety requirements outlined in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

    1. Any major violations (DWI, homicide, reckless driving, drugs, leaving the scene) within the last three years
    2. Two or more other moving violations and one at fault accident in the last three years
    3. Three or more other moving violations in the last three years
    4. Two or more at fault accidents in the last three years with no moving violations
      *Drivers will not be qualified for this position if they meet or exceed any of the four guidelines at any time during the course of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

As an ESTIMATOR, general duties would include review of RFP's, obtaining/reviewing bid documents, estimating, and preparing bid proposals for Environmental Restoration and Construction projects in the private and public sector. Bid scopes will include but are not limited to reforestation, wetland planting, stream stabilization, invasive species removal, E&S controls, tree removal/clearing and native landscape planting.

Successful candidates should possess the following:

  • Minimum 2 years experience estimating or similar work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to review RFP's, bid documents, and communicate with GC's to define appropriate scope of work to be bid
  • Resourcefulness to produce budgetary estimates from schematic bid sets
  • Analytical skills to review subcontractor bids and vendor quotes
  • Ability to coordinate bidding of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Composure to manage and meet tight deadlines while still producing 100 % accurate takeoffs and bids
  • A meticulous approach to estimate reviews, as well as careful and detailed work habits to ensure estimate accuracy
  • Good general computer knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word. (DropBox)
  • Capacity to work with Business Developer to produce competitive base bids, as well as appropriate value engineered alternatives and bid revisions.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related environmental landscape, construction or engineering field a plus
